Alternatively, how about Whitewalls?  We don't have to go somewhere miserable.  We could get a Craig permit which is nice and easy and impressive and have Aggy as a fallback in case of rain - we wouldn't have to do a long trip in there. Nant Rhin is also nice as a sunday trip. [[User:Kathryn|Kathryn]]

Proposal for Mich Term

(it's mind numbingly boring, but we can shake things up)

  • First meet
    • Swildon's Hole, Wessex
      • I'd vote for this, but the Wessex often seem to have their AGm on the same weekend so we might have to compromise and go to a different hut. [Edvin]
      • I thought the place we stayed in last year was good (MNRC), though clearly the wessex is ideal if we can get it. Kathryn
    • or P8 on ladders, Orpheus
  • Second meet
    • OFD 1 & 2, other caves for the sunday?(Little Neath?), SWCC
      • Sounds like a good plan. Little Neath is probably a bit intimidating for novices (unless it's a drought) but Bridge cave nearby could be a good option. [Edvin]
      • Though Bridge cave is very short and hardly worth getting changed for - how about Porth yr Ogof (not that I have ever been there). Also note that noone who had their first trip in OFD in the last two years is still with the club. Bela, Laurence, Jess, Maddy, Ben and Tom all had their first trip with the club in Swildons - is this telling us something? As an alternative, could we have a Peaks meet and do P8 followed by Giants on the sunday (for people who liked P8 and are keen) or Carlswark (as an easier option)? (sorry, I'm just biased against OFD because I don't like traversing... or getting lost) Kathryn
  • Third meet
    • Bar Pot, Dihedral, Flood, etc... Ireby on the sunday (cave du jour!), Brackenbottom
      • Bar+'non-novicey alternative' worked really well last year - but maybe we should avoid the entrances that we have for the 60th do (Dihedral, Flood, Stream)? Brackenbottom is good as it has an SRT training rig.[Edvin]
      • I think Ireby for novices might be a bit long for a sunday trip, though I agree that its a great cave! How about staying at Greenclose rather than Brackenbottom and getting some Easegill permits - there are some great trips that don't require any/much SRT, and greenclose is good for Gaping Ghyll too (which the farm isn't). Alternatively if we do stay at Brackenbottom how about a Little Hull permit - I haven't been there but I remember someone (Martin?) saying it was ok for competent novices? Kathryn
  • Fouth meet
    • Giants or P8 on rope, peak cavern on the sunday, TSG
      • I'd probably vote for this option, as two Yorkshire trips and then New year in Yorkshire (assuming that happens) might be a bit much! Kathryn
    • or something in Esegill (Lancs or BPW on rope) or anything else people fancy, the FARM

Caves I want to visit, are not novicey and require permits: Notts, Notts II, Washfold, Marble Steps, Gingling, Newby Moss, Little Hull... (Crescent Pot as well, but I'm not allowed to say it aloud)

Please add your suggestions! (Serena)
